The 2016-2017 Charlotte Scottish Country Dance Society classes with Jack Pressley begin on September 8!!
Looking for a P.E. course for the next school year? Look no further! Scottish Country Dance is vigorous physical exercise, challenge for the mind, a great opportunity to get to know others & it's steeped in cultural education.
Scottish Country Dance (SCD) was the forerunner of American square dancing; its music the forerunner of American bluegrass. SCD is danced with pairs of folks in sets of 6 to 10 people. It really is great fun!!! Younger and older can participate (ages 8 and up).
Over the past few years, eight of the CSCDS young people have received scholarships for their dancing abilities to attend the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society's summer school in St. Andrews, Scotland. In addition, there are three students from our 2015-2016 classes who earned scholarships and are going to Scotland this August! Here is a video of one of their dances:

What is great about this program is that it’s P.E. for the whole family, and a participant can actually demonstrate aptitude through their scholarship program which looks great on transcripts.
