Wings of Eagles Ranch is in need of volunteers for their 8-week spring Riding Session, which runs March 12th - May 5th. Mandatory training for new volunteers will be February 27th from 5:30-8:30.

Homeschoolers Meet the Grizzlies ~ Boone!
Bring your Homeschool children for an outstanding night of Grizzlies arena football!
The festivities begin on the field at the Holmes Center in Boone, NC with the players.
After this watch the High Country Grizzlies take on the Richmond RoughRiders at 7 pm in the team's season opener.
Wrap up the night with a meet and greet/autograph session with the players.

CALLING ALL OCEAN EXPLORERS! SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium is seeking ocean exploring experts to help navigate through the wondrous waves of the high sea. From February 26th-March 2, 2018, guests will be able to experience a different side to our sea adventure.-Educational activities DAILY from 12-4 PM
-Souvenir Adventure Map for every child who participates in the activities
-Activities ranging from: mapping out the ocean, learning about ancient sea monsters, and interacting with our creepy creatures

Free Girls Who Code summer Programs for 10th & 11th Graders -program is run in 16 cities (Charlotte)

This program is run in 16 cities (see list below) and they are hosted primarily at top tech companies and some universities. Check out the Girls Who Code 2018 Summer Immersion Program Outreach toolkit which includes sample emails, newsletter blurbs, social media, etc, sample student < and parent flyers.
Girls Who Code's Summer Immersion Program is a FREE 7 week program for current 10th and 11th grade girls (rising juniors and seniors) across sixteen cities to learn coding and get exposure to tech jobs. Applications for summer 2018 are open. GWC has an early deadline of February 16, and the final application deadline is March 16.
In the Summer Immersion Program , students will learn about:
· Tech Companies -- They’ll meet female engineers and get an inside look at technical roles in the world’s top companies.
· Project-based learning -- They’ll learn computer science through real-world projects in art and storytelling, robotics, video games, websites, apps and more!
· Sisterhood -- They’ll work in teams and make lifelong friendships with a supportive and diverse community of thousands of girls.
In addition to providing a free program, Girls Who Code provides summer stipends to cover transportation and living costs for Summer Immersion Program students who qualify!

Dance and Costume Contest Details, Rules & Guidelines
We'll have music and dancing, as well as tables, chairs and a wide selection of games for those who may not want to dance. Light snacks and refreshments as well.
Around 8:30 PM we will have our costume contest. Those who wish to participate will grab a number and get in line! Each contestant will have the spot light for a few seconds and people will vote on ballots for their favorites in these categories:

- The contest is optional!
- All costumes must be PG. If you have questions, please contact jbennetti.thsg@gmail.com.
- Large costumes are welcome, however the venue is not huge and it may be difficult to dance in a costume that is too large. There are bathrooms where guests can put on their costumes closer to the contest.
- Rules for Costume Props:
- All props must be stored in the designated area before and after the contest. No props will be allowed on the dance floor before or after the contest for safety reasons, no exceptions.
- You are responsible for making sure your props go home with you at the end of the evening.
- Should any props become a safety concern at any point during the event, they will be removed and stored in the designated area until after the dance, no exceptions.
- All attendees must check in on arrival. A chaperone will be outside checking people in.
- Parents are welcome to gather outside. We know some people are traveling to the event, parents are welcome to gather outside the venue to visit, we just ask you do not block the parking area or the entrance to the dance. There are some restaurants in walking distance, as well as Video Game World if you have younger siblings with you. A map with nearby attractions will be provided. The venue is just not large enough to accommodate all the guests, their parents and siblings.
- Attendance is conditional upon respectful behavior at the discretion of the hosts. Parents will be notified of any disruptive behavior.
- There are volunteer parents that will be running and chaperoning the dance. We appreciate parents offering to chaperone, but we can not accept all of the offers. We simply do not have enough space to accommodate everyone.
Food
- PLEASE DO NOT BRING OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS! Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. There are no outside food or drinks allowed in the facility to keep this is a Nut-Free allergen event. If you have other allergen concerns, please contact jbennetti.thsg@gmail.com prior to March 5, 2018.
Music
- All of the music played at this event are clean radio edited versions of the Top 100 Hits.
- We can not take song requests. Music is purchased before the dance and is being provided by volunteers rather than a professional DJ.

Do you like to draw? Come hang out with other teen artists at Parker Banner Kent & Wayne - Comics & Games on the 1st Tuesday of each month 3:00 - 4:30 PM Sept. through April! Come draw and chat about techniques and tips!
Theme: TBD
Bring whatever supplies you need. Some months we'll have special guest artists and themes! This event is geared toward teens, ages 14 & up.
Please check in with JoAnna Bennetti upon arrival and give her your artist(s) name(s), age(s) and parent contact information. Cost is $5.
Teens need to stay in the drawing/gaming area and not get too loud so as not to disturb customers in the store.
Teens that do not drive may be dropped off, if a parent checks them in and returns to pick them up by 4:30 PM.
