A New Service Projects Collaboration Group has been created! Please join!

The Homeschool Gossip’s Service Projects Collaboration was created for homeschool families to get connected to plan and coordinate Service Projects, a topic discussed all the time among homeschoolers. 
Not all service projects are open to all ages or to large groups. This group will help us to organize many types of services projects, so we can find people to help and those wanting to help, can find ways they can! Together we can make these happen, so families with children of all ages can participate in some way!

A New Homeschooling Q & A's Support Group has been created! Please join!

You are invited to join

The Homeschool Gossip’s Homeschooling Questions & Answers Support Group was created for new homeschool families, or those considering homeschooling, to get connected with veteran homeschool families to answer questions and lend support.

If you are a veteran homeschool family, please consider joining to lend your advice and support to those new to our homeschooling community!  We all remember how overwhelming it was in the beginning, and those veteran homeschool families who helped us get over our fear and helped us get on the path to this amazing adventure!

There are already new homeschooling members who have posted questions waiting for answers.

Please share this group among your friends and groups, so the word can get out to new homeschoolers that there is a place to go to ask questions and get answers.

Members can add new members. A group Administrator of The Homeschool Gossip will approve members that are homeschoolers.

A huge thank you, in advance, to all the families that will join this group to help answer questions and lend support to new families in our homeschool community!

Dive deeper and join us for our exclusive Homeschool Week at SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium. Homeschool students, teachers and their families are invited to explore the aquarium for only $7.50+tax per person* (Adult or Child).

A visit to SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium will engage your students' senses. In addition to the spectacular view from the underwater tunnel full of amazing sea creatures, we provide educational talks, feeding demonstrations, and the opportunity to touch shrimp, crabs, sea stars and more at the interactive Touch-pool Experience! With so much to see and experience you will take learning beyond the classroom and into a new underwater world.

We offer at no additional cost during Homeschool Week, the ability to explore & learn in our classroom from 10:00am - 2:00pm where you can come and go as you please and take part in learning activities geared towards a variety of ages. You can network with other families from the homeschool community, while learning about conservation, marine life and science.

The Connections for Concord and Charlotte Homeschoolers group has scheduled a Pokemon Hunt for all homeschoolers!

"Who's up for a little exercise and a whole lot of fun.

Come meet with friends or just make new ones, as we walk the mall catching pokemon.
WE will meet in front of Books-a-Million (inside of the mall).

Join the Creative Photography Club for Teens of North Charlotte on their next adventure! This Friday, May 26 1:00 PM Latta Plantations Trails! RSVP Required.

 Another fun photography workshop for teens (ages 13 and up). Again, this is a stand-alone workshop. No experience necessary. May use a phone or camera. We will continue exploring photography as art. BRING A SPECIAL OBJECT WITH YOU, AS YOU WILL USE IT FOR THIS PROJECT.

We'll meet at the same place (at the end of Sample Road, which goes through Latta). Also bring fold-up chair if you have one, as there are no benches under shelter yet.

Charlotte Scottish Country Dance Year End Recital
To conclude this year's Scottish Dance program, we will have a Scottish Dance recital on June 1 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at Gilwood Presbyterian Church.

All dancers who have participated in classes this year will be dancing in the program.

This is a great opportunity for you to come and watch, so you can learn more about Scottish Country Dance and see how hard everyone has worked this year and how much fun it is.

Kids Bowl Free All Summer ~ Huntersville, Charlotte, Gastonia, Statesville & More!


Go online today to register your child(ren) that are 15 years old or younger to bowl for free all Summer long!  This is a great opportunity to arrange meet ups with other homeschool families!  They have many participating bowling centers throughout North Carolina, and other states as well, even Canada!

The Connection Homeschool Enrichment Co-op Info Meeting ~ Huntersville

The Connection Homeschool Enrichment Co-op (Huntersville, NC) is hosting informational meetings for prospective members for the 2017-2018 school year. We offer hands-on, fun and educational parent-led enrichment classes, field trips and opportunities to serve the community.
We seek to create a close-knit community in which children of all ethnicities see themselves represented and celebrated in the stories they are exposed to and activities in which they participate. Our desire is that our co-op will be a model of diversity and unity in which we reflect the beauty in all of mankind and empower our children to lead and engage in the multi-ethnic world in which we live. We believe that we are all image bearers of Christ, and He created us with ethnic diversity as an expression of His manifold beauty.
Prospective members must attend one informational meeting. The dates are:
Monday, May 22nd at 7 pm
and
Thursday, June 1st at 7 pm.
Both meetings will be held at Huntersville United Methodist Church in Huntersville, NC.

TEEN Nature Photography Fun Workshop ~ Latta Plantation



This is a stand-alone workshop using camera or phone. (A phone is just as good or better to use for this as a camera.) Ages 13 and up -- no exceptions. Cost is $4.

We will meet at Latta Plantation in Huntersville at the Cattail Trail, accessed by following Sample Road to the end. We will hike the short trail with our cameras or iPhones, after a brief "lesson" on what we'll be looking for! We will be using a book and photo cards written and created by Catherine Anderson, a local artist from whom I've taken a workshop and I greatly admire her work. We plan on setting up an FB page where the students may share their work.

This workshop is a prelude to more summer workshops, leading to a 6-week workshop in the fall when school starts. No experience needed. No commitment necessary. I am a mom of 4 in our 16th year of homeschooling.
